Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the 9th EDF of the Guyana Sea Defence Programme-Detailed Design and Tender Assistance

The firm conducted the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the 9th EDF of the Guyana Sea Defence Programme-Detailed Design and Tender Assistance funded by the European Union (EU).

The tasks under this preliminary ESA involved:

  1. Identifying the potential positive, negative, direct, indirect and cumulative impacts that are likely to emerge from the pursuance of physical works under the 9th EDF Programme on the relevant components of the bio-physical, human welfare and other socio-economic parameters,
  2. Conducting a comprehensive review of the laws and policies governing the sea and river defence sector,
  3. Identifying and providing guidelines and recommendations for effective execution and management of physical works to be undertaken in the 9th EDF, and
  4. Detailing tasks and responsibilities for the mitigation of the significant negative externalities.
